SAT and ACT Registration Dates: Upcoming Deadlines for 2026 and 2027
Upcoming SAT and ACT registration deadlines for 2026 and 2027, plus tips to plan ahead.

Registering for the SAT or ACT is one of the simplest steps in the college application process, and one of the easiest to miss. Registration deadlines fall about a month before each test date, popular test centers fill up early, and late registration always costs extra. Here are the upcoming dates every family should have on the calendar.
November SAT: Late Registration Closes October 27
The November 7, 2026 SAT is almost here. Regular registration has closed, but late registration remains open until October 27, 2026, with an additional late fee. If your student needs a November score, register today at collegeboard.org.
December ACT: Register by November 6
The next ACT takes place on December 12, 2026, and the regular registration deadline is November 6, 2026. Late registration runs until November 29, with an additional fee. Register at act.org.
December SAT: Register by November 20
The December 5, 2026 SAT is the last SAT of the year, and scores are expected on December 18, just in time for January application deadlines. The regular registration deadline is November 20, 2026, and late registration closes November 24. Register at collegeboard.org.
Looking Ahead to 2027
Planning ahead makes testing far less stressful. Juniors, especially, should map out their test dates for the spring:
ACT: register by January 22 for the February 27, 2027 test
SAT: register by February 19 for the March 6, 2027 test
ACT: register by March 5 for the April 10, 2027 test
SAT: register by April 16 for the May 1, 2027 test
ACT: register by May 7 for the June 12, 2027 test
SAT: register by May 21 for the June 5, 2027 test
A Few Tips
Register early: you will have a better choice of test centers, and you will avoid late fees.
Work backward from application deadlines: choose test dates that leave time for scores to arrive, and for a retake if needed.
Keep a consistent study schedule: steady preparation over several weeks beats last-minute cramming.
